Frequently asked
Everything you need to know before you switch.
When you place an order with Plus Mobile, we'll ask whether you want to keep your current phone number. The actual number transfer takes place during the activation process, so don't cancel your current service until your Plus Mobile activation is complete. Otherwise, your number may be lost. To transfer your number, you'll need your current carrier's account number and Account PIN or Number Transfer PIN (the exact term varies by carrier). These details are typically available on your billing statement or in your online account. You may also be asked to confirm the primary account holder's name and billing address.
Yes! In most cases, you can bring your own unlocked phone. To check compatibility, simply enter your phone's IMEI number on our compatibility checker. We'll instantly tell you if your device works on our network and whether it supports features like 5G, VoLTE, and Wi-Fi Calling.
Make sure your phone is unlocked before switching. If it isn't, your current carrier can unlock it for you. Once unlocked and confirmed compatible, just insert your new SIM or activate your eSIM to get started.
If you bought your phone from a carrier, it may be locked to their network. To check:
For Android: Go to Settings (or Connections) > Networks (or Mobile Networks) > Network Operators > Search Networks. If you see multiple carriers listed, your phone is likely unlocked.
For iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About. If it says "No SIM restrictions" next to Carrier Lock, your phone is unlocked.
You can also test with a SIM card from another carrier. If the phone recognizes the SIM and you can place a call, the phone is unlocked.
If your phone is locked, you'll need to contact your current carrier to unlock it. This process may take a couple of days, so make sure to request it before activating your phone on the Plus Mobile network. Most carriers share their unlock steps on their website or through customer support.
